     Therapist serving Chicago and the North Shore
    Mei in 2008

    From a young age, I recognized an ability and interest in listening deeply to people’s needs, and in helping people on an interpersonal level.

    I followed my heart and graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology.

    I'm known as a direct, insightful, kind, and inspiring therapist, serving Chicago and the North Shore. As a therapist, I help clients to triumph over:
    • relationship, marital or family issues;
    • ACOA issues;
    • immigration adjustment, or cross-cultural issues;
    • anxiety;
    • depression;
    • grief and loss;
    • life transition issues.

    I adjust my approach to respond to individual needs. I have served clients of varying ages and diverse backgrounds.

    In working with clients, I use an integrated approach to help them resolve the pain, discouragement, and tension in their relationships. It is very rewarding for me to cultivate clients' capacity and skills so that they can thrive in more fulfilling relationships.

    My clients enjoy my therapeutic style which is active, experiential, action-oriented, and growth-promoting.

    Inner Awakening Counseling and Psychotherapy
    Awareness, Curiosity, Aliveness!

    Born and raised in Taiwan, R.O.C., my international background has enhanced my cultural awareness and sensitivity in clinical practice.

    I'm especially familiar with the psychological distress that immigrant families often experience when they brave the multiple challenges of adapting to the mainstream culture/environment. Be it issue of generation gaps, depression, anxiety, or family conflicts, I can help you resolve them, putting your lives back to love/order.

    In addition to the clinical work, I am also a professor of clinical mental health counseling program at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.

    I have authored two books and numerous journal articles through which I have the privilege to share my counseling expertise with a broad audience of counselors and therapists.

    I am grateful to have received three Faculty Excellence Awards as well as the Beverly Brown Award; it is such an honor to receive these acknowledgements for my humble contribution to the field of counseling.

    Join me now to take on the path of happier life and more fulfilling relationships!
